12/19/07 Jewett City

Around 16:15hrs the Jewett City and Griswold Fire Departments were dispatched to 111 Main St., Jewett City Savings Bank for a Fire Alarm. Jewett City Chief Smith was first on scene with nothing showing and the building evacuated. Further investigation found a moderate smoke condition in the basement. Car 56 established command, requested Lisbon ET-254 to the scene and the first due Engine to stretch a line through the Ashland St. entrance. Firefighters found the fire to be burning in the furnace room with no extension to the rest of the building. Companies remained on scene for approximately one hour. No injuries were reported and the Griswold FMO is investigating.

11/24/07 Laurel Hill Control Burn

Firefighters from Laurel Hill and the Connecticut State DEP were on Ridgewood Dr. in Norwich this past Saturday conducting a control burn. Units were on location for about three hours clearing some brush for a resident while also getting their annual certification with the State.

11/17/07 Scotland

Scotland Fire Department responded to a report of a Chimney Fire at 360 Hunnington Rd. late Saturday night. First arriving units had a working Chimney Fire with Extension to the structure. Canterbury, Windham Center and the FAST from North Windham were added to the assignment. No other information was available.

11/16/07 Griswold Structure Fire

On Friday evening about 21:25hrs the Griswold and Jewett City Fire Departments were dispatched to 122 Edmond Rd. for a possible structure fire. Q V Dispatch notified units they were taking additional calls reporting a working fire. First arriving Griswold officers had a single story ranch with active fire showing from the "C" and "D" sides. A working fire assignment was added to the response bringing in Lisbon T-154, Voluntown ET-153 and the FAST from Taftville. Jewett City and Griswold Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, knocking the fire down soon after arrival.

11/13/07 Jewett City

The Jewett City Fire Department responded to this Car into a Building at the Griswold Senior Center on Soule St. Tuesday. First Arriving, Car-256 found one vehicle with minor damage and no injuries. Units secured the car and held the scene for a short time.


11/13/07 Norwich (Greenville)

On the afternoon of November 13, the Norwich Fire Department was dispatched to this Structure Fire at 455 North Main St. in the Greenville section of the City. First due Engine 2 ( which is housed just across the street ) found a active fire from the first floor. A working fire assignment was transmitted adding the FAST from Mohegan Tribe.

11/6/07 Canterbury Structure Fire

Canterbury Fire Department responded to 418 Water St. for a structure fire. First units had heavy fire showing on arrival. Mutual Aid was requested from Scotland, Baltic, Lisbon Ambulance and the FAST from Taftville.

11/4/07 Lisbon MVA

Around 15:45 Lisbon Fire and Ambulance was dispatched to River Rd. at Newent Rd. for a MVA. Officers arrived to find a minor accident involving a motorcycle. One patient was transported to Backus Hospital with minor injuries.



Moosup Water Supply Drill

On the morning of November 4, 2007 Departments from New London and Windham Counties converged at the Kaman Aerospace complex in the Moosup section of Plainfield to participate in a water supply drill. The Moosup Fire Department wanted to be sure if a major incident was to occur at this sight, or one close to it, they would be able to flow at least 1000gpm using multiple Ladder Pipe operations. With a few minor glitches, the drill was a success. Companies were able to maintain the 1000gpm mark and then some.

10/29/07 North Stonington Fatal

On Monday evening around 21:30hrs the North Stonington Fire Department was dispatched to Rt. 49 in the area of the Voluntown town line for a MVA. Arriving units found this one car into a tree with three patients in the vehicle. One patient was transported and the other two were pronounced on the scene. Thanks to North Stonington Command for access to this scene.

New Arrival In Baltic

Baltic Fire Department recently received this Spartan / Marion to replace one of their older Ford / E-One units. This engine features a 1500 gpm Pump with a 1000 gal tank and will be used as their first piece out on most calls. The apparatus will be in service soon.
