08/24/09 Norwich (Laurel Hill)

Monday afternoon shortly after 14:00, Norwich Fire dispatched the Laurel Hill Fire Department to Thamesview Apartments on Laurel Hill Rd. (Route 12) for a possible structure fire. When first due units arrived they found themselves with a three story wood frame multi family with smoke showing. Engine 62 transmitted a working fire adding Norwich (City), Mohegan Tribe FAST and East Great Plain to the assignment. Soon after arrival the blaze self vented out of one apartment and extended into the roof. Due to it being a hot summers day additional units from Norwich and Taftville were requested to the scene along with a rehab unit from American Ambulance. Firefighters were able to get the upper hand on this fire keeping it contained to the third floor apartments with smoke and water damage to the lower two floors. The Norwich FMO is investigating.
