08/23/09 Old Lyme

Old Lyme Fire and Ambulance were requested to responded to Interstate 95 North bound, in the area of exits 70 and 71 for a motor vehicle accident involving a Tractor Trailer. Units arrived to find a Tractor Trailer on it's side, through the sound barrier, one confirmed pin and a total of five patients. Life Star and Life Flight were requested but were unable to fly due to the weather. With the driver heavily entrapped in the trucks passenger compartment, Command requested a Heavy Duty wrecker to the scene to assist with lifting. Additional Rescue Companies were requested from Old Saybrook, Essex and Flanders with numerous Ambulances from surrounding towns. After approximately three hours of work, the patient was removed from the wreckage and all patients were transported.
